In Africa, young people, especially vulnerable youth, continue facing the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Disruptions caused by the pandemic have amplified many of the challenges facing the Sierra Leonean youth.
As part of the Africa Youth Partnership, Restless Development has been working to improve the capacities and skills of members of a Youth Task Team to develop and implement policy accountability frameworks and offer solutions, enabling us to better connect, collaborate and self-organize toward evidence-based advocacy for equitable pandemic response and recovery in Sierra Leone.
With training, coaching, and other technical and financial support, the Youth Task Team in Sierra Leone has conducted evidence based mapping and analyses to identify accountability gaps in key areas of national recovery programmes, including areas such as education and skills, youth employment and enterprises, health systems, and treatment, vaccine equity among others. The Youth Task Team was able to map existing evidence on Covid-19 economic recovery efforts in Sierra Leone.
In their Position Paper on these key areas, they identify the existing problems, their causes and suggest workable solutions to fix them. Stay informed. Access the Position Paper here:
