SIERRA LEONE
Michael Kpaka holds a BSc. Honours Degree in Banking and Finance from the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone. Michael has a strong background in Leadership and has participated in several leadership seminars and training both at continental and global levels.
He is a youth activist and champion of human rights with deep experience in advocacy; especially for women and girls.
As a young activist, Michael has had to weather the harsh economic, social, and health situations of his country Sierra Leone in the past two decades by remaining committed and devoting his time and efforts to advocacy and volunteering activities on a daily basis, notably through Men’s Up Initiative; an initiative that provides alternative methods to limit the occurrence of SGBV by engaging and educating men (old and young) in Sierra Leone about the dangers of SGBV.
He is also one of the pioneers of the Health Systems Awareness initiative which addresses the gap in Health Risk Communication and related challenges in relation to especially the COVID-19 pandemic prevention. The initiative also focuses on research work to identify and implement strategies in order to respond to other forms of inadequate health care services in Sierra Leone.
Michael does not only want a change of life for himself, but a change and improvement in his country, fellow youths, and most especially for women and girls in Sierra Leone and beyond.
