THE GAMBIA
Dawda Cham is a passionate environment and climate change advocate who is the Deputy Executive Director of HELP-Gambia, an environmental NGO in The Gambia. He serves as Peace & Climate Change Coordinator of Peace Hub The Gambia where he coordinates programs and projects on Climate, Peace, and Security.
In October 2020, Dawda was appointed by the Global Affairs Unit (GAU) of the 16th UN Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY16) as Country Coordinator of The Gambia responsible for coordinating its activities in The Gambia.
In September 2021, Dawda was selected by UNICEF The Gambia to represent the young people of The Gambia in the UNICEF Africa Grand Climate Change Debate with participants from across the Sahel. Through the support of UNICEF, Dawda represented the young people of The Gambia at the World Water Forum in Dakar, Senegal in March 2022.
Dawda is an alumnus and trained leader of the maiden West African Young Leaders (WAYLead) Fellowship in Accra, Ghana 2021, and YALI Young African Leaders Fellowship 2021.
Besides his conservation work, Dawda holds a BSc in Biology from the University of The Gambia and works with one of The Gambia’s leading diagnostics centers, AQA Medical Diagnostics as a Scientific Officer.
