BRIEF OF SUBMITTED SOLUTION


SANKOFA GREENISH as the name suggests seeks to encourage the cultivation of Ghanaian old local stable food crops namely Sweet Potatoes and Taro which has become extinct in Ghana. The project shall focus on youths and women-based agri-business in the rural and peri-urban communities in Ghana especially in the eastern part of Ghana where these two crops were predominantly grown. It is focused on encouraging and promoting the love for agriculture especially among the teeming unemployed graduates and women in a modernized way to help provide the communities with food security and also contribute to youth unemployment. The project shall encourage solely organic ways of farming with sustainability’s as the focus.
With time, there shall be processing of these sweet potatoes and taro into several products including chips, bread, biscuits, starch, flour, ethanol, yogurts, among others.
It will also focus on training opportunities for youths and support students financially.

The academy through its initial stages selects students in three tertiary institutions: The University for Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), and The University of Ghana (UG)

Students go through a year of professional development through skills training, internships, professional exchanges, develop and implement community action projects that improves the development outcomes of other young people.
