Blessings Malama Kasenge’s story is one that echoes determination and resilience. He is a Medical Doctor by profession and currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology (BSc.HB) and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Zambia.

His passion lies in making a difference in his space and impacting lives in various ways among them health care provision. He was born and raised by his parents in Kitwe, Zambia, and is the first born in a family of four.  He expressed leadership prowess at a tender age and served in various leadership disciplines during his upbringing.

With a dream of becoming a Doctor and driving change, he spent the latter years of primary and secondary school focused on this dream and investing in knowledge. He has a self-driven passion for youth development with a firm belief that once equipped with the necessary tools, young people can achieve their full potential.

While in University he participated in students’ politics, served as Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, and also sat on the University disciplinary committee as a board member and played an active role in reconciling students and fostering peace between students and the University management.

Being passionate about public speaking, he founded a debate society and debated various motions on antimicrobial resistance, human rights, corruption, and climate change.

He also participated and emerged victorious in a national debate competition which was televised and dubbed the People’s Budget competition in which youths from across the country were asked to propose and draft a national budget.

In addition, his passion and advocacy ensured he was selected to attend a summer policy boot camp in Arusha, Tanzania which focused on how young people can leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He hopes to make a difference in his nation in any capacity, holding the belief that we need to be at the center of our own world regardless of our position in society. He is currently a communications and engagement specialist at BeRelevant Africa a youth-led organization championing youth inclusion in various developmental agendas. Furthermore, he is a 2022 Global Change maker’s grant recipient with a project focused on raising mental health awareness in communities around Lusaka, Zambia.
