LIBERIA
Alexander T. Cole is a young Liberian social worker, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist, Communications and IT Consultant, and a HE4SHE campaigner who has dedicated his time to working with women, youths, and other vulnerable groups of society to ensure that their rights to land, forest, and other natural resources are protected and they are fully participating.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the increase of violence against women and girls, he led a project that carried out awareness and training with over 300 women, school-going age girls and boys on reporting SGBV using mobile apps in two of Liberia’s political sub-divisions.
Since the passage of Liberia’s Land Rights Law in 2018, he has worked with customary communities’ dwellers or indigenous people to formalize their land claims using his GIS knowledge to train the community members in the use of GPS devices and other mapping tools to help them map their land areas and gain legal recognition and status to their land.
He’s passionate about youth service, and teamwork and believes that the world can only be a better place if everyone accepts people for who they are and put an end to all forms of discrimination.
